Attend the 30th Fondation pour Genève Award Ceremony

The Fondation pour Genève, alongside the federal, cantonal and municipal authorities, will be presenting its 30th prize to Fabiola Gianotti, physicist and Director-General of CERN, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Geneva’s international reputation.

CERN brings together 17,000 people of more than 110 nationalities. Fabiola Gianotti has been actively committed to CERN since 1996. Project leader of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) between 2009 and 2013, she played a major role in the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012. She also led the Science Portal project, which was inaugurated in 2023. As such, she is a true ambassador of Geneva and the values we hold dear.

I am extremely honoured to receive the Fondation pour Genève Prize. The development of science and technology, openness, collaboration across borders and the education of young people are fundamental values at CERN, which are also deeply rooted in international Geneva. The fact that these values, which are so dear to me, are being recognised is a particularly touching moment for me. – Fabiola Gianotti

The 30th Prize ceremony will be held on Monday 13 May 2024 at 6.30pm. This is your chance to take part in this tribute and to leave the Victoria Hall with “particles in your eyes”!
