Laureate 1985
International Music Performance Competition (CIEM)

1985 Prize awarded to the International Music Performance Competition (CIEM),

Sunday, September 15, 1985 around 10:30 pm, Hotel Noga Hilton, Geneva

In his speech, Marcel Naville, President of the Foundation for Geneva, recalled that until now the Foundation has honored personalities who, through their action and their efforts, have contributed to giving Geneva a greater influence. This year, the choice fell on the International Music Competition. Closely linked to the Conservatoire de Musique, the CIEM has been one of the two great pillars on which the musical reputation of Geneva is based since its creation by Henri Gagnebin and Dr. Frédéric Liebstoeckl and in parallel with the action of Ernest Ansermet and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.

At the end of the closing ceremony of the competition and the award ceremony, a reception was offered by the State Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva and the Administrative Council of the City of Geneva.
