Withdrawal of US support for the WHO: momentum for reinvention

Our Director Fabrice Eggly was the guest on Radio Lac this morning to react to the withdrawal of US support for the World Health Organisation (WHO). It was an opportunity to reflect on the strengths of international Geneva: its unique ecosystem, its ability to bring different players together and its resilience.

We must not forget that Geneva is a global operational centre. It is often said that Geneva is the kitchen of the international system, and New York is its dining room. The decisions taken every day in Geneva, often out of the media spotlight, have a direct and tangible impact on the lives of everyone on the planet.

A crisis can generate a collective impulse for innovation and strengthen the commitment of those who believe in the values of multilateralism. It’s up to us to seize this opportunity to emerge stronger and better prepared to face the future.
