Raise awareness among young people

Comic strip on international Geneva

As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations in 2026, the Geneva Foundation is stepping up its efforts to raise awareness among young people by publishing a comic book on international Geneva and organising educational support for school classes in Geneva and Switzerland.

Many Geneva pupils leave school without knowing about the international ecosystem that is part of their city. But the decisions taken within International Geneva shape the world in which they will live. In a context of increasing crises and an uncertain future, young people’s interest and engagement for the world must be encouraged.

AI: a challenge for individuals and the world

The comic book tells a fictional story centred around artificial intelligence. The aim is to use the current context to demonstrate the importance of international cooperation. Far from denigrating AI technology, the comic book aims to engage young people on the issues it raises at an individual and global level and pave the way for its responsible use. It highlights Geneva’s international role, which impacts not only young people’s daily lives, but also the way the world works.

It is designed as an educational tool to initiate classroom discussions on topics related to the governance and use of AI, disinformation and the use of personal data, international cooperation and global interconnection. The Foundation is also developing educational resources to accompany the comic’s release. The comic will be published in autumn 2026 and will be available in French, German and English.

A Genevan cartoonist who shares the values of International Geneva

Born in Geneva, Fabian Menor began publishing short comic strips about the news at the age of 14 in a local Genevan newspaper, thanks to the support of Zep. After graduating with a degree in graphic design, he went on to study at the École Supérieure de Bande Dessinée et d’Illustration. For his degree project, he created a graphic novel about his grandmother’s childhood, which won him the Caran d’Ache prize and was published by ‘La joie de lire’ in 2020. After graduating, he worked with the publishing house ‘Helvetiq’ on an adaptation of C.-F. Ramuz’s novel Derborence and a collaborative project with JP Kalonji and Yrgane Ramon, illustrating the lives of three young unaccompanied refugees. Fabian Menor published a new comic book in August 2025, which recounts the last months of Iris, a world-renowned painter who is losing her sight and moves into a nursing home while an exhibition of her work is in preparation. Iris was awarded the 2025 Töpffer Geneva Comic Book Prize.
