The 2026 Prize was awarded to Ivan Pictet, President of the Fondation Portail des Nations
Tuesday 9 June 2026 at 7.00 pm at the Fondation Brocher
The Fondation pour Genève presented its 31st Award to Ivan Pictet, President of the Fondation Portail des Nations, at a ceremony attended by federal and Geneva authorities on Tuesday 9 June 2026 in the idyllic setting of the Fondation Brocher in Hermance. The prize was specially designed by the Geneva-based artist Fabian Menor, with whom the Fondation pour Genève is developing a comic strip on International Geneva and AI.
This convivial evening also provided an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fondation pour Genève and to bring together, on this occasion, all those who have worked alongside it for decades.
To mark its 50th anniversary, the Fondation pour Genève has chosen to pay tribute to a man who has dedicated his life to promoting Geneva. For over 25 years, Ivan Pictet has embodied Geneva’s openness to the world. A renowned Geneva-based banker, he chaired the investment committee of the United Nations Pension Fund in New York, before serving for nearly twenty years as head of the Fondation pour Genève. Two decades devoted to promoting the institution’s values and supporting the city’s reputation beyond its borders. The ‘Genève à la rencontre des Suisses’ bus, which he sent on a tour of 26 cantons to mark the bicentenary of Switzerland’s entry into the Confederation in 2015, remains one of the iconic projects of his presidency.
“I am very proud to receive this award from the Fondation pour Genève, whose development I have followed and often helped shape for over 20 years. I am particularly touched by this honour in this anniversary year of this wonderful institution.”
– Ivan Pictet
