Welcoming members of the International community

Founded in 1996 by the Swiss Confederation and the Canton of Geneva, the CAGI is supported by national, local, public and private entities. It aims at facilitating the settling down and integration in Geneva and the lemanic region of international civil servants, members of permanent missions, consulates, NGOs, multinational companies, together with their families. It also assists NGOs interested in setting up an office in the Geneva region.

The Fondation pour Genève has been an associate member of the International Geneva Welcome Centre since 1998.

The Newcomers Network of the Fondation pour Genève is a group of 28 volunteers chaired by Juliette van Berchem. It runs CAGI’s Welcome programme, which offers activities to facilitate newcomers (around 1’500 people per year) and their families during their first year of stay, their integration and the discovery of Geneva and the Lemanic region. These activities include lunchtime conferences, excursions in Geneva and the Lemanic region and a programme to learn foreign languages.

In 2018, the CAGI and the Fondation pour Genève also developed a brochure listing the various sports and leisure clubs in the Lemanic region. Sport is an essential factor of integration, facilitating exchanges, meetings and ties between the international and local communities.
