Founded in 1999 by the Fondation pour Genève, the International Circle is a private-law association, chaired by Florence Notter and run by some 60 local volunteers. Today, Membership stands at nearly 300. Its purpose is to encourage social links between high representatives of international Geneva and local life.
It is intended for women diplomats, or those holding important positions in academia or in international private sector as well as the spouses of diplomats posted in Geneva, spouses of members of the directorate-general of international organizations or multinational companies located in Geneva. The International Circle organizes events in the form of interviews, conferences, debates, excursions and workshops on a wide variety of subjects.
